Biography
Hi! My name is Emilee Kain and I am a '25 from the south suburbs of Chicago. I am an Anthropology major and a Chemistry minor. On campus, I’m a Global Health Fellow, a member of the Student and Presidential Committee on Sexual Assault, and a licensed EMT working with Dartmouth EMS. I have been working in the Ophthalmology Clinic at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for the past two years as a technician. I have also done research with TseLab at Dartmouth and with a public health research group based in Pristina, Kosovo, where I will get my first publication! My current research is my senior thesis, which explores rates of low-risk/unnecessary C-sections in the US South to provide insight into the sociocultural dimensions of childbirth interventions and decision-making. I have had a very unconventional D-plan, where I have been lucky enough to go abroad twice – to Italy to study Italian and to New Zealand to study anthropology. I also spent an off-term at the U.S. Department of State, where I worked on biosecurity and infectious disease outbreaks in Central Africa. Since I'm from the urban Midwest, I had never been very involved with the outdoors before coming to college, so I love to explore new outdoorsy activities – kayaking, hiking, and even sailing! I also love to have game nights with my friends and watch (really bad) reality TV. I cannot wait to meet you – please reach out with any questions you might have, or just to chat.
