Hi everyone! My name is Dylan Smith, and I'm a '28 at Dartmouth from Los Angeles, California. I'm studying Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology and minoring in Public Policy with a concentration in Health Policy. 

On campus, I'm very involved with Dartmouth EMS, where I'm a secondary member and serve as the Operations Officer, which means I'm responsible for scheduling shifts for the organization. I'm also a PAL mentor for CHEM 5, where I lead weekly problem-solving sessions for students. Off campus, I work as a clinical intern at the Hanover Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. Research has also been a big part of my Dartmouth experience. I've been conducting research at DHMC since I started at Dartmouth, and I currently work in Dr. George Zanazzi's lab investigating glioblastoma. I also volunteer in the Emergency Department through Patient and Family Voices, where I get to speak one-on-one with patients about their care and hear about any gaps or challenges they may be experiencing. My interest in health policy has also taken me beyond Dartmouth. Through the First-Year Fellows program, I spent a term in Washington, D.C., interning at Health Affairs, a leading health policy journal. This past summer, I also got to sing with the Dartmouth Brovertones, which goes gender-inclusive during the summer, and it was such a fun way to try something completely different! Outside of academics and medicine, one of my greatest loves is my cat, Pickles, who I adore enough to have a custom T-shirt with his face printed on it. I also really enjoy going out to eat with friends, especially when it's at Han Fusion or Molly's! I'll be off this coming spring and will be back home in Los Angeles, where I plan to continue fostering my interest in medicine by working in a clinical setting, studying for the MCAT, and preparing to apply to medical school. I'm really excited to get to know everyone in the HPP community!
