Hi, my name is Alma, and I'm from Trenton, New Jersey! I'm a Neuroscience major on the pre-med track. 

On campus, I'm a Pathways to Medicine intern, a member of Dartmouth EMS, a Dartmouth Admissions tour guide, one of the founders and President of Sigma Lambda Gamma (SLG), Vice President of the Latino Medical Student Association Plus (LMSA+), and an E.E. Just Undergraduate Fellow. I conduct research in the Doucette Lab at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where I study neural activity and effort-based decision-making in rodent models, with a broader focus on understanding mental illness and substance use disorders. I've also gained clinical exposure through physician shadowing across several specialties. Outside of medicine and research, I really care about mentorship, supporting students from underserved backgrounds, and making opportunities in healthcare and higher education feel more accessible. In my free time, I love cooking, being outdoors and spending time in nature, traveling, spending time with my family and friends, and meeting new people!
